Maddox Sematimba

Singer Maddox Ssemanda Sematimba was deported from Sweden to Uganda a couple years back and has been leading close to hopeless life due to stress. He left his wife and his children there and has not seen them in years.

Many times Maddox was arrested by police for idle and disorderly because he always used to drink in the ghetto especially Kasubi, Katanga, Kamwokya and Kisenyi.

Whenever he would get drunk he would sit at the veranda of his friends’ houses and sing.

Some few years back many local promoters would not bother to give him business because he preferred drinking to doing anything.

Afande Charles Karangwa used to house him for years at his Kazinga home in Bweyogerere until the two  fellow out due to the singer’s overdrinking.

However, since the beginning of this year Maddox has totally changed his lifestyle and as you read this, he is one of the top five highest paid artistes in the country!

Sources intimated to the Ugandan that a top music local promoter paid a whooping sh15m for just two shows to the singer.

He has graced most high profile shows this year and he is undoubtedly in business despite the fact that he does not have too many new songs compared to many artists.

Maddox’s music is the kind of music that sounds as though it was released yesterday.

Before his deportation, the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II used to hire him almost every year to perform for him in the palace on his birthdays.

Looks like Maddox has rediscovered his worth and lost glory as he is one of the finest artists Uganda has ever produced.

Some of the songs that made a name for Maddox include among others Namagembe, Irene, Omuyimbi, Eddembe, Wowooto, Munnakyalo, Tukolagane, Omukwano.
