One of the world’s biggest comedians, Trevor Noah is coming to Kampala this November and is set to play a massive show at the inaugural Uganda international music and Culture week.
Comedian Patrick Idringi aka Salvado whose Sheer solutions Uganda are the organizers told TheUgandan that Noah will headline the comedy fest on November 3rd and then visit one of the big national parks or the Source of the Nile in Jinja, Eastern Uganda.
In the past three years Noah has gone from being a star in his native South Africa to worldwide fame, thanks to his role filling the rather large shoes of Jon Stewart as the host of America’s satirical news program, The Daily Show.
Noah is a comedic crowd-pleaser: charming, energetic and intelligent, if not particularly challenging.
The Uganda international music and Culture week, which will stretch from 29h October to 4th November 2017 also has famous reggae duo Chaka Demus and Pliers lined up.
State Minister for Tourism, Hon Kiwanda Suubi told me at the unveiling that government was supporting the festival by 150 per cent.
The minister who showed up at Uganda Museum with a local harp also known as Adungu in West Nile was visibly excited to preside over the venture that is intended at showcasing the crème of Ugandan cultural dances, food, poetry, comedy and music to the world.
Mr Boniface Byamukama the President of Uganda Tourism Association told media that, all stakeholders and bodies under the association are partners in the project and will be fully involved in the process.
Some of the proceeds from this year’s festival go to the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary which was established in October 1998 to care for orphaned chimpanzees that have been rescued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
