Rwandan prostitutes arrested in Kabale deported

The authorities in Kabale district have summarily deported the 8 Rwandan suspected prostitutes who were early this month rounded up from various lodges in Kabale town.

Kigezi region Police Spokesman Elly Matte  confirmed the development, saying  that the East African Community people are free to move from one country to another but must use designated entry and exit points along the common borders where their respective  national identity card particulars must be verified and documented.
Matte added that “most of the Rwandan beauties deported had no identification and since they quickly admitted their crime, there was no need to keep them in cells but to return them to their country”.

He advised them to get identification papers and enter the country using designated borders if they are interested in settling in Uganda.
“Crossing the boarder does not deprive them their nationality and though they have the right to cross the border under the East African  Community guidelines,  they still need to be protected and supported in case of anything and that is why the authorities demand identification,” said Matte.

The Officer in Charge of operations at Kabale police station Julius Bwahwayo who led the operation to net the ladies said the operation was prompted by numerous complaints from some lodge owners who claimed that their clients were complaining about prostitutes who use their hotels and later steal from them their valuables.

Some of the arrested Rwandese who had documents but never cleared with immigration authorities at entry points were named as  Diana Mukeshimana,  Olivor Mugeni,  Delphine Uwimbabazi,  Mourius Kangabe,  Alice Uwizeyimana,  Jackkine Biyogi,  Nyirandondimana,  Uwase, and Dusangye.

They were picked mainly from Mbobocha bar and and Lodge,  Clouds Inn,  Safe Lodges and T&J among others all found in Kigongi area along Kabale – Mbarara highway in Kabale Municipality.
