Two people were yesterday summarily executed by mob in Rwerere Trading Center in Nyakagyeme sub county, Rukungiri District after they were suspected of killing a fellow resident.

The Kigezi sub region police spokesman Elly Matte said that the two suspects whose names were not revealed were killed after the gruesome murder of Boaz Rutagarenga Kirikita, a matooke seller in Rwerere whose lifeless body was recovered yesterday morning in a pool of blood.

It is reported that the Rutagarenga was waylaid on his way home after selling his matooke and slashed several times with a panga and some of his body parts like the tongue taken out which appeared like ritual murder.

Eyewitnesses however said that after discovering Rutagarenga’s body, the residents made a pursuit and found the two suspects washing clothes with blood stains and on interrogation they confessed and they were killed before the police arrived.

Police’s Matte condemned the act saying that the police will investigate the matter and those who participated in the mob will face the law.

He said that people should stop taking the law into their hands saying that two wrongs can’t make it right.
