The illustrious school’s board of governors had decided that at the beginning of the new term on 6th February 2017, the school, that has been a boys-only should open its doors to female students as well.

But a marathon of meetings by senior old students of the school including former information minister Maj Gen Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Kaginda Mugume and Rujumbura county MP Fred Turyamuhweza Tumuheirwe forced new Bishop Rt. Rev. Benon Magezi to overturn their resolution to make the school open to both girls and boys following the school’s poor performance in the national examinations as well as the continuous dip in its enrollment.

The old students had written to the Diocese through Bwagi and Company Advocates requesting the diocesan management to withdraw their decision and threatened to drag the bishop and his team to court if nothing was done.
