Residents of Rukarara village in Kihembe Parish in Kanungu District are in fear following the kidnap of their neighbor  by unknown people from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

TheUgandan has learnt that Mr Kyarisiima Yonasani in his late 40s was on Wednesday evening kidnapped by  Congolese who are now asking for hyge sums of money. The kidnappers have even threatened to harm Mr Yonasani if the money is not sent to them.
This is not the first time, Ugandans are being abducted by Congolese insurgents. In November last year, the Kanungu District Police Commander, Joab Wabwire coordinated the arrest of 16 congolese following a similar incident in which four Ugandans had been abducted from Kyabuyorwa village in  Butogota town council which is also at the borderline.
However, The DPC says that he got information in on Thursday morning and an operation to rescue Yonasani from the Congolese is underway.
The kidnappers who are now using the victim phone are demanding for sh 25 million before he is released.
Crime on Uganda-Congo boarder
Kabingo trading center is on the  Uganda-Congo border and is not new to violent crime.
In 2011, three people were gunned down by thugs who later disappeared into Democratic Republic of Congo jungles.
The Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Mr Juuko Kasiita who also talked, told the Ugandan that he was still verifying the information by press time.
