Makindye chief magistrate’s court has further remanded to Luzira prison a man who accused Bishop Patrick Makumbi; the Arch pastor of Gospel healing centre Lweza of stealing his genitals (testicles).

Presiding magistrate Allan Mpirwe Gakyaro has fixed Kato’s case for hearing on the July 6, 2017 and ordered that the complainant Bishop Makumbi comes along with his witnesses.

Meanwhile, State prosecutor Happiness Ainebyona informed court that she does not know the status of investigations in Joseph Mukasa alias Kato case because she does not have the police file.

“The case is coming up for the mention but I do not know how far inquiries into the matter have gone because I do not have the police file,” Ainebyona said.

On June 5, 2017, Mukasa a resident of Kalangala in Kiboga district was charged with defamation of the profession of Bishop Makumbi, a charge he has since pleaded not guilty to.

Prosecution led by Happiness Ainebyona states that between February and March 2017 while appearing  at various local Radio and TV stations within Kampala district,   Mukasa a peasant from Kiboga district uttered statements to the effect that Bishop Makumbi stole his genitals (Testicles)  and ate them in a way of practicing cannibalism.

According to prosecution, the said statements were made with an intension of ridiculing and defaming the profession of Bishop Makumbi within the right thinking members of society.

Kato has had no sureties to stand for him and this left no choice for the presiding magistrate but to remand him in prison until July 6, 2017.

Kato’s relatives had declared him missing 2 weeks ago  having not been aware of his whereabouts only to learn that he had been sent to jail over defamation.
